Problem: You want to add your work email account to your mobile device, but you're not sure how to do that.
Note: These directions may vary from phone to phone.
Note: If you follow these steps and still cannot access your work email via mobile phone, it might be that we haven't enabled that feature for you yet. Please contact the Help Desk if this occurs.
Note: If you want to remove the Outlook app from your phone, please scroll to the bottom of this guide.
Adding Your Email Account to Your Phone
Use these instructions if you're using your phone's built-in mail app.
**Skip to the Outlook instructions if you are using the Outlook app.
iOS
- Go to Settings. Depending on your version:
- Tap Mail, then tap Accounts.
- Or tap Passwords & Accounts.
- Tap Add Account, then select Microsoft Exchange.
- Enter your full work email address and password, then tap to Sign In. Please do not tap to configure manually, or to adjust any advanced settings.
- If prompted to enter your work email address and password a second time, please do so.
- If prompted to verify your identity via text or call, please do so.
- If prompted for permissions from Apple Internet Accounts, go ahead and tap to Accept.
- You can customize any sync settings you want and then tap to Save.
Android
- Make sure your device is connected to a data network via cell phone service or other wireless connection.
- On your device, go to Settings.
- Near the bottom of the Settings screen, tap Accounts (this may vary depending on your device).
- At the bottom of the Accounts screen, tap Add account. (you may have to tap Accounts again before being able to tap Add account)
- On the Add account screen, tap Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
- Enter your full work email and the password you use to sign into your computer.
- Tap Next (or OK, etc.) to confirm your setup
NOTE:
- On some versions of Android, you must use the domain\username format.
- For example, if your email address is tony@contoso.com, type contoso.com\tony@contoso.com. Your username is your full email address.
- If it asks for Domain and Username in separate text boxes in your version of Android, leave the Domain box empty and type your full email address in the Username box.
Removing Your Email Account From Your Phone
iOS
Use the instructions below to remove an Exchange account on your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to Settings. Depending on your version:
- Tap Mail, then tap Accounts.
- Or tap Passwords & Accounts.
- Tap the Microsoft Exchange account you want to remove.
- Scroll down and tap Delete Account. A Delete Account warning window will open.
- On the Delete Account warning window, click Delete Account to finish. You have successfully deleted your Exchange account.
Android
Use the instructions below to remove an Exchange account on your Android device.
- Go to Applications > Email. The Email screen will open.
- On the Email screen, bring up the settings menu and tap Accounts. The Accounts screen will open.
- Press and hold the Exchange Account you want to delete until the Menu window opens.
- On the Menu window, click Remove Account. A Remove Account warning window will open.
- On the Remove Account warning window, tap OK or Remove Account to finish. You have successfully deleted your Exchange account.
Outlook App Instructions

- Removing your email account:
- Open the Menu at the top left.
- Click the Settings (gear) icon.
- Tap your account.
- Tap DELETE ACCOUNT.
