While it's possible to store many, extremely large files in the Teams Files area, eventually this will all add up and your org might start running out of storage space. To reduce the amount of storage space used, it's often the most efficient to delete the largest, unneeded files first. Assuming that a file is no longer needed, any file that has a "GB" after it will be extremely large in size and a good candidate to consider for deletion. To sort through these please do the following:
From your desktop Teams client, navigate to the Files tab in the Channel you want to start with. Click on "File Size" and choose "Larger to smaller". This will sort the files in the order of the largest ones at the top decreasing in size as the list goes down. From there, any of the large files that don't need to be kept around, those files can be deleted if that's the decision you and your team are OK with:
If you click on one of the folders (which are not sorted by size), you can drill down:
Within that sub folder, view the largest files at the top (the sorting by largest file on top should persist) and make decisions whether or not to keep them around accordingly. In this example, the file is over 14 GB in size and is absolutely enormous! Assuming it's safe to delete and no one needs it any longer, it'd be a great candidate to delete and far more time efficient than deleting thousands of smaller files:
To actually delete a file(s), click on the little selector to the far left, then choose Delete and confirm if necessary:
