If you have an Excel file created by a third party that doesn't open, this ultimately might be an issue for the tech support of this third party's software/service provider. However, we have a few initial troubleshooting steps for you:
Unblock access in File Properties.
To do this:
- Right click on the Excel file and choose Properties
- On the General tab, click Unblock
- Click OK
Disable the Protected View setting within Excel.
To do this:
- Open MS Excel
- Go to File > Options
- Click Trust Center (from the menu on the left)
- Click the Trust Center Settings button
- Click Protected View (from the menu on the left)
- Remove the check marks next to all of the boxes for Enable Protected View for files…
- Click OK
- Click OK
If neither of these steps worked, open a ticket with the Help Desk and we'll see what we can do before pushing it back to you to push back to the third party.
