You may need DUO multi-factor authentication (MFA) to access your organization's remote desktop environment. To request access, please do the following:
- Open a Help Desk ticket request with A) your mobile phone number and B) the make and model of your phone.
- We'll let you know once we've activated your DUO account. At that point, you should receive two SMS text messages:
- The first SMS text will take you to directly to the page where you can download the DUO app onto your mobile phone.
- If it prompts you to allow notifications, tap Allow.
- It will say something like, "New to Duo? ADD ACCOUNT" - disregard this and skip to the next step.
- After downloading the app, go back to the second SMS text and click on the link. It may ask if you want to open it with DuoMobile - go ahead and select DuoMobile, then tap Always. This will add your account to your DuoMobile app.
- Note: It will show you a different set of 6 digit numbers every 30 seconds.
- The first SMS text will take you to directly to the page where you can download the DUO app onto your mobile phone.
And that's it! Once you're set up with DUO, when you access your remote desktop environment, it will send a push notification to your mobile phone, which you should Approve if you want to access your remote desktop.
NOTE: If you get random DUO notifications asking to Approve or Reject, that may indicate someone else on the internet trying to get into your account. Luckily, MFA helps protect your account from those bad actors, though if that happens, please change your password promptly and let the Help Desk know in case we need to investigate further.
