Record the Teams meeting
See this guide from Microsoft, which includes how to record and who can record a meeting in Teams.
Share the Teams meeting recording
Sharing Teams videos with people inside your organization
Teams recordings are now automatically saved to the OneDrive of the person who recorded the meeting. All invited meeting participants will have permission to view the recording, but only the meeting organizer or the person who recorded the meeting can share the recording with other people in the organization.
The easiest way to locate the recording is:
- Open the chat window for that meeting in Teams.
- Scroll to the recording, then click the "..." at the top right of the recording thumbnail.
- You can click Get link to copy the link or you can click Open to adjust the sharing permissions (if you recorded it or if you are the meeting organizer) or simply view the recording.
More details can be found in this Microsoft guide.
Please note:
- Any recordings previously saved to Stream may be lost if they were not saved anywhere else.
- Any recordings in OneDrive automatically have an expiration date, but you can manually set them to never expire.
Sharing Teams videos with people outside your organization
To better maintain who has access to your recording, we recommend sharing via OneDrive. That way, you control who has permission to open your file links, and you can rescind access at any time. Due to your organization's security policies, you may see the "anyone with the link" option even if it is not an available feature for staff. You can always test functionality with a personal account on a machine where you are not signed in with a work account.
However, if the content of your recording is not sensitive or confidential and can instead be shared publicly, you may want a "share link with anyone" type of option. In that case, you can download the recording file, then upload it to a third party cloud sharing service, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or YouTube. Please note that we have no control over the security of files uploaded to third party systems.
