Please note that due to Chrome potentially/in some cases not being a secure and reliable web browser in an enterprise computing environment, and Edge being virtually an exact copy of Chrome and compatible with any web resource that Chrome is, not all orgs have Chrome on their list software that is allowed to be installed. The following guide only applies to those orgs for which Chrome installs are allowed. If you don't know if your org has made an exception to allow Chrome, please contact the help desk.
To install Chrome please follow these steps:
- Browse to https://www.google.com/chrome and download the Chrome installer file.
- Double click on the file that downloads.
- You'll get an admin prompt, click No
- If it does not start to install, it's possible that Chrome is not allowed for your org.
- If asked to sign into Chrome, you can skip or sign in. Please note the help desk does not support Chrome, signing into Chrome, or backing up/recovering Chrome data.
- If asked to set Chrome as default browser, please do NOT choose that option. Edge should remain your default browser and if it's not, technical issues may arise.
- At the "Chrome privacy notice" feel free to read it if you like, scroll down, and click "Got it"
- Chrome should now launch. If you see a firewall prompt, that should only be a cosmetic/non-applicable message so please choose to click Cancel. It should be a 1-time only message.
- At this point Chrome setup should be complete and you can use Chrome.
