The Portal Overview
If you're working from a personal device instead of a work-issued device, you can still access your work resources online through your organization's Remote Access Portal. Your portal can be accessed by web browser and includes links to Remote Desktop, Webmail, the Teams web app, and other Help Desk information.
To access your organization's Remote Access Portal, simply type "remote.DOMAIN.ORG" into a web browser and replace "DOMAIN.ORG" with the part of your email address that follows the @ symbol.
It will look similar to this screenshot:
You will need to sign in with your full work email address and password, then authenticate with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as required by your organization's security policies. To set up MFA, please see Setting up Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication.
Remote Desktop
If Remote Desktop (RD) is enabled for your account, you will need to sign in twice. The first time, you will be prompted for your work email address and password, then you will need to approve an MFA push notification. After that, you will need to sign in with your work email address and password once more.
Once you're signed in, click the computer icon, confirm your settings, then the RD environment will load.
Note: The RD environment is not a direct window to your work-issued computer, but does includes the same Office apps and File Server access you would have on your work-issued computer. Please do not access Teams within the RD environment. Instead, use Teams in a separate browser tab outside of the RD tab. |
Webmail
You can access Outlook on the go via webmail. All you need is an internet connection. From your organization's Remote Access Portal, simply click Webmail, then sign in with your full work email address and password, then approve the MFA push notification on your mobile device.
If you need to access any secondary mailboxes, please see How do I manually add or remove a secondary mailbox?
Pro tip: Webmail is also commonly referred to as Outlook on the Web, OWA, and sometimes the Outlook web app.
Teams
If you don't have access to the Teams desktop app, you can use the Teams webclient, which provides essentially the same experience with no need to install any software. From your organization's Remote Access Portal, simply click Teams webclient, then sign in with your full work email address and password, then approve the MFA push notification on your mobile device.
Pro tip: The Teams webclient is also commonly referred to as the Teams web app.
