Problem: You've sent emails to jdoe@gmail.com thousands of times! Now you're trying to send them an email, but you keep getting an error.
Solution: Sounds like you have a bad cached contact or a bad contact (we won't get into the technical details). Try clearing your cached contacts!
How to delete the cached email address
We'll keep using jdoe@gmail.com as the example email in this scenario.
- If you have a saved contact card for jdoe@gmail.com, check that the email addresses associated with that contact card are correct. (Are there any misspellings?)
- After you verify the saved contact is correct, open up a new email and address it to jdoe@gmail.com.
- When you start typing in their address, as soon as it tries to auto-complete the name, press the X next to the auto-complete form to delete and remove the cached version of that email address.

- Navigate to the Send/Receive tab in the Home Ribbon, click Send/Receive Groups, then select Download Address Book:
- Type the full email again completely and send out the message.
How to perform a major cached contact repair
If the above steps didn't do the trick, try these:
- Delete the cached contact(s) following the steps in the above section, if you haven't already.
- Delete the contact cards(s) in Teams.
- Delete the contact(s) in other devices, such as your cell phone, etc.
- Restart your computer.
- Re-add them as a brand new contact in Outlook and Teams
